On the spot where you now have Quest Field (Seahawks) and Safeco Field (Mariners) used to be the Kingdome. The Kingdome
was built in the mid-70's when domes where the hot thing to have. Of course that changed in the 90's when teams like the Baltimore Orioles and
the Cleveland Indians kicked off the new stadium craze. If you ever stay at a hotel in Seattle or rent a car, part of the taxes goes to pay
for these stadiums. Safeco Field came first. It has a retractible roof (handy for those April and May games where you have a good chance of rain).
While I'm a diehard Yankee fan, I do enjoy going to Mariner's game. It is fantastic stadium. The Seahawks - which have finally become a decent
team the last few years - have Quest Field as their new home. Previously the M's and Seahawks both played at the Kingdome.
