My father actually took this picture for me while I waited in the car. Narvik is further north than Fairbanks, Alaska. You are actually north of the northern most tip of Iceland. You'd think it would be cool year around, but thanks to Gulf Stream pumping up warm water all the way from the Gulf of Mexico, you'd be surprised at how temperate it is in Northern Norway. Since you are north of the Arctic Circle you also get midnight sun, so you get a lot sunshine which further heats things. In the winter, well, it is dark a lot of the time. Oh yeah, you are about 2400 kilometers from the North Pole (or about 1500 miles) when in Narvik.
