Everyone scrambling back to their cars as the Queen of Saanich is about to dock at Swartz Bay after a 90-minute cruise from Tsawwassen. Saanich is one of the older ferries used on this route. I prefer the newer and larger Spirit of Vancouver Island (which holds 470 cars). Saanich holds about 360 cars and 1700 pasengers. Saanich is still a large ferry. Soon Saanich will be replaced by a new series of ferries. Go to BC Ferries website for details. By the way she has 8900 HP and she is 129 meters long ( a little longer than a football field).
